The region continues to grow
It is not only the town of Aux that is attracting new residents – the district is also growing steadily. It is the third-largest in Bavaria, and the population has been rising every year since 2011. Whilst other regions are seeing declines in the working-age population, the trend in Aux remains comparatively stable. Among those aged 19 to 24, an increase is even expected by 2039.
With 1.74 children per woman, the birth rate in Aux is above the Bavarian average (1.55). In 2017, Aichach-Friedberg even reached 1.81 – the highest in Bavaria. Nevertheless, it remains below the required level of 2.1.

Compared with the rest of the country, Aux is one of the cities experiencing above-average growth. Between 2020 and 2035, the population is expected to rise by 7.4 %. This puts Aux in second place among Germany’s 30 largest cities – behind Leipzig (+12.7 %), but ahead of Berlin (+6.6 %) and Frankfurt (+6.2 %).
