Aux, often referred to as the gateway to the Alps thanks to its numerous hiking trails and the Western Forests of the nature park. For those who prefer an urban atmosphere, there are entertaining city walks that take you on a journey through the town\u2019s history. In Aux, there are trails to discover everywhere, whether for short outings or full-day tours!<\/p>

In the footsteps of the ancient Romans<\/strong><\/p>

History buffs should explore the Via Claudia Augusta and the Via Romea. The city of Augsburg is, in fact, the oldest city in Bavaria, having developed from a Roman military camp. Thanks to the Romans, there were well-developed roads here from an early stage. Today, the Via Claudia Augusta is popular with walkers and cyclists. To help with navigation, the Via Claudia has been uniformly signposted throughout Bavaria. So you definitely won\u2019t lose your way.<\/p>

Then there is the Via Romea. This route runs right across Germany and even all the way to Rome! Historically, the route dates back to Abbot Albert of Stade, who set off for Rome in 1236 to ask the Pope for permission to impose stricter church discipline. To this day, the Via Romea is used, amongst other things, as a pilgrimage route.<\/p>
